Lead Mine Operations Specialist

Brunel is seeking a Lead Mine Operations Specialist to spearhead the mining component of a steep cut-back project in Papua New Guinea.

The role demands a high level of expertise and experience in mine operations, safety management, and leadership.

  • Ensure statutory compliance of the open cut operation.
  • Take charge of forming the team to manage both subcontractor and mine-owned assets.
  • Hold the statutory responsibility for the Mine Operation.
  • Provide regular reporting as required.
  • Exercise safety leadership with a strong focus on process safety and culture.
  • Contribute to ongoing stakeholder engagement, facilitating cooperation and alignment through effective relationship management between Mine Operations personnel, Project Delivery, Technology, and Technical Services;

About You

  • A degree qualification in Mining Engineering or similar field is required.
  • Membership of a professional organisation is also expected.
  • You must demonstrate a positive attitude to safety and possess high energy in-field leader skills.
  • You should be able to coach and mentor PNG National staff.
  • You are expected to be a self-motivating problem solver with excellent safety management/leadership skills.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in the industry is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with world-class mine development techniques is desirable.
  • Competence in IT, at least MS Office and CAD (advantageous).
