
Aboriginal Cadet Environmental Health Community Advocate

We are seeking an enthusiastic and community-minded individual to join our Environmental Health team as a cadet.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, with a genuine interest in health, science or the environment.
As a cadet, you will gain hands-on experience and develop the skills needed to become a qualified Environmental Health Officer.
The role involves assisting with inspections of food businesses, public swimming pools and spas, cooling towers, caravan parks and skin penetration premises. You will also support the team on development applications and environmental assessments.
You will participate in health promotion activities and local community events, learning how to maintain accurate records and write basic reports.
Most importantly, you must be eligible for, and committed to, completing a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) at Western Sydney University.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with inspections and monitoring of food businesses, public swimming pools and spas, cooling towers, caravan parks and skin penetration premises.
- Support the team on development applications and environmental assessments.
- Help respond to community requests about environmental and public health issues.
- Participate in health promotion activities and local community events.
- Able to identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
- No previous experience required, but a genuine interest in health, science or the environment is essential.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Organised and able to work independently.
- Eligible for and committed to completing a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) at Western Sydney University.
