Cadet Environmental Health Specialist

About the Opportunity
As an Aboriginal Cadet Environmental Health Officer, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop the skills needed to become a qualified Environmental Health Officer.
Key areas of focus for this role include:
- Assisting with inspections of food businesses, public swimming pools and spas, cooling towers, caravan parks, and skin penetration premises.
- Supporting the team on development applications and environmental assessments.
- Responding to community requests about air, noise, water, contaminated land, and waste issues.
- Participating in health promotion activities and local community events.
- Developing your understanding of public health and environmental laws.
- Providing exceptional customer service to deliver great outcomes.
Requirements for this position include:
- Identification as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
- A genuine interest in health, science, or the environment, along with motivation to learn and grow.
- Good communication skills, reliability, organisation, and comfort working both indoors and out in the field.
- Eligibility for, and commitment to, completing a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) at Western Sydney University.
This is a 6-year fixed-term position with full-time hours of 35 per week.
