Key Role in the Claims and Advocacy Team

We are seeking an Advocate to join our team, responsible for submitting DVA claims and representing clients at the Veterans' Review Board.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of defence entitlements, be able to establish meaningful relationships, and possess excellent communication skills.

Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans and their families.

  • Actively strive to exceed expectations through excellent service, consultation, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate an empathetic and flexible approach in all actions.
  • Liaise with key external stakeholders, related services, and agencies associated with DVA.
  • Participate in projects aligned with strategic/operational plans and embrace the change process.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of work outcomes associated with the preparation, submission, and follow-up of claims/appeals for compensation and entitlements from DVA & VRB.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Compensation Advocate Level 3 (or working towards).
  • A working knowledge of all defence entitlements under appropriate legislation and Veteran's Review Board policies and practices.
  • Completion of /or willingness to complete courses relevant to the role.
  • An understanding of defence-related illnesses and conditions.
  • The ability to establish and build meaningful relationships internally and externally.
  • Highly developed communication skills and the ability to prioritise, manage and problem solve.
