The future of sustainable transport in Australia hinges on understanding the necessary modes of transport and infrastructure, the role of autonomy, the integration of movement and place in planning, and leveraging data through digitalization to inform future strategies. The Role

In line with our commitment to promoting sustainability in mobility, we are expanding our Smart Mobility team in Sydney. Ramboll is in search of skilled and passionate transport planners to become part of our dynamic local team. This position offers the chance to collaborate with experienced professionals both locally and globally who are dedicated to making a positive societal impact and establishing a sustainable legacy. You will have the opportunity to influence the growth of the team as a senior leader, foster a positive work culture, and instill core values within the team.

Candidate Profile

The following qualifications are highly desirable for this position:

  • Experience in Australian transport modeling and planning projects within consultancy or government sectors,
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in urban planning, transport planning, engineering, or a related field,
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering, transport modeling, and planning, and
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.

Additionally, the role will require:

  • Leading traffic engineering, transport impact assessments, transport planning, and modeling projects of various sizes and complexities in Australia, with support from the global team,
  • Taking a leadership role in developing the team's traffic engineering and modeling capabilities,
  • Proficiency in traffic and transport modeling software, including SIDRA, Vissim, and Visum,
  • Collaborating closely with our Smart Mobility team in Singapore to deliver projects across Australia and the APAC region,
  • Supporting the implementation of Ramboll's sustainability strategy related to Smart Mobility and Transport,
  • Demonstrating a proactive approach to project delivery and team growth,
  • Providing technical insights on international smart mobility projects to support our global teams,
  • Offering technical guidance on traffic impacts and transport modeling across markets,
  • Mentoring junior and mid-level traffic engineers and transport planners during project execution,
  • Engaging with clients, both existing and prospective, and collaborating with business partners,
  • Maintaining a strong client network in NSW, particularly with relevant agencies and developers,
  • Leading opportunity and proposal initiatives,
  • Assisting in the creation of marketing materials and presentations to support business development,
  • Mentoring junior team members to aid in their professional growth,
  • Participating in professional meetings to stay updated on trends and innovations in transport planning and modeling, and
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the Smart Mobility business.
