Opportunity to Lead Change


Coota Girls Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a visionary leader to drive the strategic direction of our organisation and advance the healing needs of Stolen Generations Survivors, their families, and descendants. As Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for leading a passionate team committed to truth-telling, reconnection, and justice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive organisational strategy that aligns with our values and mission.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the management and operations team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups, governments, funding bodies, and stakeholders.
  • Advocate for the rights and interests of Stolen Generations Survivors and their families through public platforms and media.
  • Ensure financial sustainability, growth, and good governance practices.
  • Uphold legal, regulatory, and cultural compliance standards.
  • Support the Board of Directors in ensuring clear communication and effective decision-making.
  • Foster a culturally safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed workplace culture.
  • Promote the importance of intergenerational trauma awareness and healing programs.
Requirements

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Has significant leadership experience in community, not-for-profit, or First Nations-led organisations.
  • Possesses relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., Social Work, Business Administration, Community Services, or related).
  • Has a deep understanding of and experience with First Nations history, Stolen Generations trauma, and intergenerational trauma.
  • Demonstrates excellent stakeholder engagement, advocacy, strategic planning, governance, and financial oversight skills.
  • Has knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and their application in organisational settings.
  • Has experience in organisational development or capacity building.
