Pharmacy Technician
\In this role, you will be an integral part of our patient services team. You will provide critical support to ensure the delivery of high-quality pharmacy care to patients.
\Key Responsibilities\- \
- Carry out pharmacy duties as assigned by management, including supporting Medicines Management and Optimization on the wards and in the Dispensary.\
- Verify prescriptions previously validated by a pharmacist (ACPT).\
- Collaborate with the ward-based clinical pharmacy team by assessing Patients Own Drugs (PODs) for suitability of use, discussing future supply with patient/care provider and ordering required medicines from Pharmacy.\
- Transcribe medicine requirements from drug charts onto a ward pharmacy sheet.\
- Perform Medicines Reconciliation (having completed accredited training) checking patient medication history, and comparing with prescribed medications on the inpatient prescription chart.\
- Counsel patients or carers (having completed in-house or accredited training) including those with complex medication regimens, compliance concerns and communication barriers.\
- Complete Continuing Professional Development requirements and maintain registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.\
- Proactively support senior pharmacy colleagues to ensure that dispensary or ward issues are communicated to appropriate staff.\
- Undertake pharmacy-related tasks efficiently and effectively, adhering to written procedures and working under supervision to meet deadlines.\
- Maintain accurate records and reports as required.\
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.\
- Foster effective communication and teamwork within the multidisciplinary team.\
- Contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives and goals.\
- Adhere to relevant policies and procedures, ensuring patient safety and confidentiality.\
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.\
- Evaluate and improve work processes to optimize efficiency and productivity.\
- Develop and implement strategies to address patient needs and improve customer satisfaction.\
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and regulatory requirements.\
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of work.\
- Promote a culture of respect, inclusivity, and open communication among team members.\
- Support the development of junior staff members and contribute to their growth and success.\
