Job Overview:

We seek an experienced Data Governance Specialist to shape a healthier, better-protected Australia. The successful candidate will engage with stakeholders and technical experts to define and improve data definitions, catalogues, lineages, qualities, standards, and controls.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and conduct governance processes to measure data management and quality maturity across domains
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts/Data Governance Manager / Data Stewards to implement and support data governance activities
  • Conduct data profiling and analysis of existing datasets to identify critical data elements and sensitive data
  • Be the system expert and primary user of Data Governance Tool, conducting monitoring activities for each component
  • Understand, prioritise, and document business data definition catalogue, data quality, data governance requirements, processes, and technical needs with stakeholders
  • Support domain deployment activities and collaborate with project teams to ensure proper data definition, documentation, and use
  • Proactively contribute to continuous improvement of the data governance landscape with initiatives
  • Support monthly data governance working group attendance, deliverables, and initiatives

About You:

  • Solid experience in data governance roles within large organisations or consulting firms
  • Experience in data governance tools (e.g., Precisely-Data360, Collibra, Informatica, Purview)
  • Strong programming skills (e.g., SQL) and/or data visualisation tools and/or ETL tools (e.g., SSIS)
  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and methodologies (including data quality, metadata management, and data lineage)
  • Effective communication & stakeholder management; high engagement required with various SMEs
  • Strong sense of ownership and self-starter
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Some industry knowledge of Financial Services/Life Insurance highly regarded
