About the Role

The Mater Health Physiotherapy Department is seeking a qualified individual to fill a Physiotherapist Trainee position. As a member of the Physiotherapy team, you will be responsible for undertaking a defined range of clinical and support tasks under the direction of experienced Physiotherapists.

  • Perform basic clinical and clinical support duties in areas such as Acute services, orthopaedics, and musculoskeletal outpatients.
  • Provide feedback to supervising Physiotherapists on patient outcomes and any changes to patient status.
  • Recognise when input is required from supervising Physiotherapists and obtain their involvement.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical record entries that align with documentation guidelines and are co-signed by supervising Physiotherapists.
  • Set up and maintain gymnasiums, therapy rooms, equipment, and resources, ensuring they are safe and available for individual and group programs.
  • Develop and maintain clinical resources and patient education materials.
  • Identify and contribute to the development and implementation of quality/service improvement activities to enhance clinical services and patient outcomes.
  • Actively participate in professional and multidisciplinary teams to provide patient-centred care.
  • Actively participate in training and development activities to further develop clinical knowledge and skills.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Current enrolment in the final year of a Physiotherapy tertiary-level program from a recognised institution is essential.
  • Recent Mater Health student placement experience would be highly regarded.
