Role Responsibilities

As a Therapeutic Youth Worker, you will provide essential support, care, and guidance to youth aged 12 to 17 residing in our Therapeutic Care facilities. The young individuals in our care have encountered significant challenges, including trauma, abuse, or neglect, and may also experience mental health, physical, or psychosocial disabilities.

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate resilience, adaptability to changing circumstances, and a strong dedication to advocating for the welfare of the youth under their care. Opportunities are available for both permanent and casual employment.

Qualifications and Experience
  • A relevant Diploma or Bachelor's degree qualification OR
  • Identification as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander with relevant work experience OR
  • Relevant work experience and a willingness to complete a Diploma of Child, Youth & Family Intervention offered by Life Without Barriers (at no cost) OR
  • Relevant work experience and currently pursuing a relevant Diploma or Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in supporting children and young people who have faced trauma, disabilities, or exhibit challenging behaviors (preferably in a residential care context).
  • A current Provide First Aid (HLTAID003 or HLTAID011) & CPR (HLTAID001 or HLTAID009) certification or willingness to obtain.
  • A valid Driver's License.

To be eligible for a position at Life Without Barriers, candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or possess a valid medical exemption certificate. Proof of vaccination status will be required during the recruitment process.

Successful candidates will need to undergo background checks, including a National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
