Disability Support Worker Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate individual to support people with disabilities in their daily lives. The successful candidate will have a genuine commitment to the inclusion of people in their local communities.

Key responsibilities include engaging with individuals to understand their unique needs and preferences, communicating effectively using alternative and augmentative communication systems when required, implementing support plans tailored to individuals' needs, and reporting any concerns or issues that arise.

  • Support individuals to participate in everyday activities that are meaningful to them.
  • Assist individuals to develop and maintain social relationships by supporting attendance and participation in social events, recreational interests, work and/or education endeavours, and appointments of their choice.
  • Respect and advocate for personal choice and autonomy.
  • Administer medication and provide health supports as needed.
Requirements
  • Certificate IV in Disability (desirable).
  • Experience in providing personal care support to people in all areas of their lives.
  • A genuine commitment to the inclusion of people in their local communities.
  • Ability to network with a wide range of people, including members of the community.
  • Strong communication skills, including language and literacy, with a demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and legible records.
  • Ability to take on responsibility and accountability to drive positive change.
  • Willingness to collaborate and build positive relationships to achieve common goals.
  • Resilience to navigate challenges and setbacks.
  • Flexible, positive, and self-motivated mindset in daily interactions.
  • Commitment to working effectively with people who have complex communication and support needs.
