**Job Title:** Family/Carer Peer Support Specialist

**Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and empathetic individual to join our Infant & Child Core Community Treatment Team as a Family/Carer Peer Support Specialist. This part-time fixed-term role is based across our Casey (Berwick & Pakenham) and Frankston sites.

The successful applicant will leverage their personal experience as a parent/carer of an infant or child who has experienced mental ill health and recovery, and has utilized mental health services to support others within the principles of the Intentional Peer Support model. In a relationship of mutuality, you will provide emotional support to families/carers of consumers and promote well-being, choice, self-determination, and greater opportunities for consumers to participate in the treatment and recovery.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional support to families/carers of consumers using the principles of Intentional Peer Support
  • Collaborate with the Infant & Child Core Team to develop and implement care plans that meet the needs of consumers
  • Participate in regular supervision and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required

**About You:

We are looking for a Family/Carer who has lived and/or living experience of caring for a young person who has experienced mental health issues and has used mental health services where this has impacted the trajectory of your life. You will have recognition and understanding of your own personal experience and ability to use this appropriately to support others. You will also have the ability to use your experience to inspire hope and belief in recovery.

**Selection Criteria:

  • Completion of Intentional Peer Support (IPS) training (or willingness to complete)
  • Completion of Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or similar qualification (or willingness to complete)
  • Experience working in a Mental Health Lived Experience role with the capacity to use recovery-oriented and trauma-informed principles
