About the Opportunity

The University of Tasmania is one of Australia's leading health and medical research institutes, recognised worldwide for its research excellence. As part of the College of Health and Medicine, we have expanded our strength in cardiovascular disease research through the Cardiovascular Research Flagship. The Flagship aims to work collaboratively with health professionals, policy makers, and the community to develop, implement, and evaluate interventions to improve cardiovascular health.

This role is a key part of the Flagship's communications and engagement efforts, providing high-level advice, guidance, and support across a range of functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communications plans, writing and editing content, and overseeing the social media presence for the Flagship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective communications plans to support the goals of the Cardiovascular Research Flagship
  • Write, edit, and distribute content, including press releases, newsletters, social media posts, and event invitations
  • Plan, coordinate, and promote events, such as webinars, seminars, forums, workshops, and other community-based activities
  • Oversee the social media presence for the Flagship, including content planning, posting, and engagement
  • Collaborate with the College of Health and Medicine's Communications Team to ensure consistency in messaging and branding
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communications strategies and individual campaigns and events, providing insights and recommendations for improvement

Requirements:

  • Completion of a degree with relevant experience in communications, marketing, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in a communications or marketing position, preferably in a health or science research environment
  • Highly effective writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, interesting, and relevant content
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills across a variety of mediums
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders

Salary Details:

This role has a total remuneration package of up to $113,029, comprising a base salary within the range of $89,091 to $96,606 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
