Research Position: Reducing Variation in Pediatric Trauma CareThe George Institute for Global Health seeks a PhD candidate to undertake research on evidence-based trauma care for children and youth in New South Wales. This position aims to co-develop, test, and refine an intervention to address known variations in splenic injury care and their behavioural drivers.About the Role:This role involves mixed-methods research involving qualitative and quantitative elements. The successful candidate will generate evidence to enable sustained change in practice required to reduce variation of care for children and youth with splenic injury across the health system.Key Responsibilities:Conduct mixed-methods research involving qualitative and quantitative elements.Generate evidence to enable sustained change in practice required to reduce variation of care for children and youth with splenic injury across the health system.Supervision:You will be supervised by experienced researchers in the field of pediatric trauma care and public health.Requirements:A strong interest in pediatric trauma care, public health, and implementation science applied to health systems is essential.Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, as evidenced by previous publications in peer-reviewed journals.An ability to work autonomously and contribute to team activities and discussions is also necessary.Professional experience in pediatric and/or trauma care delivery, or related health discipline is desirable.Prior qualitative or mixed methods research and publications experience will be well regarded.Eligibility:Candidates must hold a relevant first or second-class Honours degree or Masters degree with a substantial research component.Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents are eligible to apply.Support:The successful candidate will be supported to apply for an Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship at the University of New South Wales.A Top-Up Scholarship of AUD10,000 per annum will be made available contingent on successful award of the UNSW RTP scholarship.
