In this critical leadership role, you will oversee a team tasked with examining transport network inadequacies, assessing proposed solutions and recommending optimal courses of action to achieve the best outcomes for Queensland.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical analysis inputs to support strategic transport network investment plan development and methodologies.
  • Evaluating transport system submissions under Infrastructure Australia Assessment Framework and Australian or Queensland Government funding programs.
  • Investigating and resolving complex issues associated with funding submissions related to planning, programming and technical matters.
  • Preparing and maintaining detailed prioritisation frameworks, including methodologies and systems for determining road network enhancement investment needs for Queensland's state-controlled road network.
  • Evaluating capital investment requirements to optimise transport network performance and ensure strategic alignment with federal and state transport portfolio investment objectives and value-for-money frameworks.
  • Providing technical input into high-level advice for senior and executive management on correspondence, briefing and other requests from external and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting the Investment Program Manager (Strategy) to determine long-term unfunded program priorities for Bruce Highway Upgrade, National Land Transport Upgrade and State Road Network Upgrade Investment Programs.
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders in managing expectations.
  • Participating in project teams developing strategic network investment plans, comprising internal and external resources.

To excel in this position, you must demonstrate:

  • The ability to make sound judgments requiring consideration of technical, stakeholder, funding and other factors.
  • A working knowledge of Queensland's transport network and an understanding of the associated funding context.
  • The capacity to provide clear recommendations in a dynamic environment necessitating rapid evaluation of complex quantitative and qualitative data and assessment of multiple contextual factors.
  • Ability to collaborate extensively and synthesise approaches/response to achieve the best overall transport outcome for departmental customers and stakeholders.
  • Proven flexibility to undertake a range of roles and activities in a small, highly productive, multidisciplinary team to ensure organisational success and a demonstrated willingness to contribute to a positive team culture.
  • While not mandatory, registration as a Registered Professional Engineer or Queensland (RPEQ), or international equivalent is highly desirable.
