Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Meteorological Services Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a suite of products and services for aviation users.

You will prepare and issue various products as required, including TAF, GAF, AIRMET, SIGMET, Aerodrome Weather Briefing, Wind Shear Warnings, Aerodrome Warnings, Ditching Reports, Search and Rescue forecasts, and FIFOR.

As part of a team, you will contribute to the development of forecast policy and collaborate with other meteorologists to ensure the provision of a consistent suite of services.

You will produce and issue forecasts and warnings from our Brisbane or Melbourne office for low-level aviation clients, including forecasts for international airports.

Liaising with customers and service partners and providing briefing services to support decision-making is also an essential part of this role.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Basic Instruction Package for Meteorologists (BIP-M) qualification as a minimum.
  • One year of experience in an operational meteorological service delivery environment is desirable.
  • Maintain Aeronautical Meteorological Forecaster competency; Hazardous Weather Unit (HWU) role may require VAAC competencies.
  • Training and certification will be provided if required.
