Your Opportunity

The Manin' Up initiative, a registered program focused on Men's Behaviour Change, is dedicated to assisting men in recognizing the effects of their actions on women and children. This program works collaboratively with men to disrupt the cycle of violence by equipping them with essential skills to navigate situations that previously led to aggression or abuse.

Participants in the program are guided to acknowledge their abusive behaviors, regulate their emotions, and reevaluate their beliefs and attitudes regarding relationships and family dynamics. Additionally, the program offers support to men in fostering respect and effective parenting post-violence.

The Manin' Up Program presents a distinctive and forward-thinking opportunity for the Program Facilitator to play a pivotal role in transforming the behaviors of men who have engaged in violence within intimate partner relationships.

We invite applications from qualified and experienced individuals. We also encourage candidates who may not fulfill all criteria but can demonstrate an understanding of the consequences of intimate partner violence to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate registered men's behaviour change programs in both group and individual formats.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of family violence and associated risk factors, developing tailored support plans.
  • Collaborate with the Department of Communities and Justice, law enforcement, courts, and other support services as necessary.
  • Partner with the Case Worker to ensure the safety of women and children involved.

Requirements for Success:

  • Proven experience in the community service sector, particularly in domestic violence or justice, with a deep understanding of the effects of violence in intimate partner relationships.
  • Experience in delivering group-based intervention programs.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Diploma or higher) in Community Services or Mental Health are highly desirable.
  • Proficient interviewing skills and familiarity with Motivational Interviewing techniques are advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A valid NSW Driving Licence is required.

Prior to commencing employment, candidates must undergo a national police history check, verification of qualifications and references, and obtain clearance to work with children and vulnerable individuals.

Our Culture:

At Mission Australia, our innovative and inclusive culture ensures that you feel valued as you contribute to helping Australians in need while advancing your career.

We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of our team and the individuals we serve.

We honor and respect diversity. Therefore, regardless of your background, if you possess the necessary skills and actively support our mission and values, you are welcome at Mission Australia.

Your Benefits:

  • Meaningful work – each day, you will know you are making a significant impact.
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging options to reduce your tax obligations.
  • Generous discounts on health insurance and with major retailers.
  • Access to free external, confidential counseling services.
