Senior Environmental Risk Specialist

As a Senior Environmental Risk Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Australia's approach to risk management. You will be responsible for leading high-level risk assessments across various industries, including infrastructure, contaminated land, mining, and industrial redevelopment.

  • Develop and implement risk assessment strategies for clients across Australia

  • Lead the development of conceptual site models (CSMs) and exposure assessments

  • Interpret toxicological, site, and exposure data to inform health/ecological risks

  • Review or prepare site-specific risk-based criteria

  • Advise clients, auditors, and regulators on site management strategies

  • Support business development and proposal writing

  • Mentor and train emerging risk assessors within the team

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Toxicology, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in risk assessment roles (consulting or regulator)

  • Strong technical knowledge of NEPM, CRC CARE, enHealth, and relevant state-based frameworks

  • Experience working on complex industrial or contaminated land sites

  • Confidence working with multidisciplinary teams and clients

  • A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in mentoring others
