Electrical Discipline Leadership Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Electrical Section Manager for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in multiple regions.

The team provides integrated facility and infrastructure design services, including Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural, and Site Civil Engineering. We serve a wide range of markets, including Tech/Media/Telecom, Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, Science and Technology, Industrial, Water/Wastewater, Federal, and Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish strong relationships with clients and participate in marketing and client development activities.
  • Manage technical and operational activities of the electrical discipline.
  • Collaborate with clients and engineering partners at the early stages of projects to inform design intent.
  • Prepare and review project scopes for the electrical discipline, monitoring financial performance.
  • Schedule and coordinate work performed inside the discipline.
  • Establish work priorities and project assignments for staff.
  • Monitor scope of work and scope changes.
  • Foster coordination with other discipline groups.
  • Conduct interviews and provide mentoring for new staff members.
  • Develop and implement employee goals and conduct performance reviews.
  • Facilitate section meetings to discuss productivity, workload, and quality control issues.
  • Enhance the skill level of personnel through training, education, and experience.
  • Collaborate with electrical discipline managers from other business locations to review workload, project status, and staffing requirements.
  • Prepare and review electrical engineering scope of work and fees for proposals.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry practices and codes, ensuring staff is aware of current standards.
  • Implement required changes into electrical design standards, procedures, and deliverables.
  • Perform quality control reviews.
  • Occasionally serve as Project Manager or Task Lead and perform project engineer duties when needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in management roles.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Previous experience in architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firms.
  • Experience in design calculations, specifications, and construction drawings for corporate/commercial development, industrial, federal, or mission critical projects.
  • Mentoring junior staff and fostering a culture of inclusivity.
  • Prior experience in sustainable design, particularly in high-performance building design similar to LEED.
