Patent attorneys play a vital role in protecting innovative technologies and advancing scientific progress. As a patent attorney, you will contribute to this effort by drafting and prosecuting patent applications.

About the Role
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in Australia and internationally.
  • Prepare high-quality written and verbal IP advice in a timely manner.
  • Manage intellectual property portfolios for local and international clients.
  • Develop and execute IP strategies tailored to client needs.
  • Prepare and deliver IP-related articles and presentations internally and externally.
About You

As a registered Australian or New Zealand patent attorney, you will have a degree qualification (or higher) in electrical or electronics engineering, computer systems engineering, mechatronics engineering, information and communications technology (ICT), physics, quantum computing, software engineering, or a related technical field.

You will possess:

  • 1-3 years post-registration experience as a Patent Attorney.
  • Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the above technical fields.
  • Experience managing IP portfolios and developing IP strategies for Australian and international applicants.
  • A client-focused approach and ability to build strong professional relationships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional technical knowledge.
  • An eye for detail, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills and database researching skills.
  • Highly organised and responsible with experience prioritising and working to deadlines.
  • A positive attitude with a collaborative and innovative mindset.
