Job Summary:

Agricultural Technician

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Agricultural Technician to join our team in Bream Creek, Tasmania.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for artificially inseminating livestock for breeding purposes.
  • This role requires a strong understanding of animal anatomy and the ability to monitor optimum insemination conditions.
  • The candidate must provide advice on breeding selection and techniques, maintain and evaluate records of all insemination history, clean equipment to ensure sanitary breeding practices, vaccinate animals when needed, handle animals humanely, store semen for insemination, follow safety protocols when handling hazardous materials, physically observe and inspect all animals for signs of disease or injury, identify harmful pathogenic micro-organisms, insects, parasites, or fungal infections and perform proper treatment and controlling methods, organize animal movements for breeding purposes, report regularly to the operations manager on breeding activity, work effectively as a member of a team to achieve pre-determined goals, attend site and section head meetings as required, ensure compliance with company obligations and relevant legislation, promote good standing of the company in the community, and undertake other duties as nominated by the assistant or operations manager.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a Diploma in Agriculture or higher equivalent, at least 3 years recent relevant work experience, good written and verbal communication skills, advance knowledge in animal husbandry, welfare, and legislation, and knowledge of computer programs/software an advantage.

Working Conditions:

This is a rotating roster position, requiring weekend work and some unplanned hours may be required. The successful candidate will be based in-person at our Bream Creek, TAS location.
