Senior Dairy Cattle Stockperson

Salary : From $68,864 per year (plus superannuation)
Required skills and experience :
- AQF Certificate III in Agriculture / Dairy Production (or higher equivalent)
- Three (3) years of recent and relevant work experience
On behalf of our client, Global Skilled Employment, we are looking for skilled candidates for the position of Senior Dairy Cattle Stockperson to join the production team of a dairy in Montagu, TAS 7330.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Plan all aspects of milk production, including management and coordination of milking shed routines.
- Coordinate and implement reproductive programs, including artificial insemination and herd fertility management, detection of estrous and pregnancy.
- Assist in controlled breeding experiments to develop improved livestock strains.
- Implement calving procedures, including conducting internal assessments to minimize stillbirths or injuries.
- Plan and manage pastures and crops for livestock production; develop feeding plans.
- Analyze produce to set and maintain quality standards.
- Supervise animal health programs; handle sick or injured animals; maintain environment according to Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines – Cattle.
- Supervise work routines and staff performance, including less experienced employees such as assistant farmhands.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures; ensure compliance and proper documentation.
- Operate milking plant and equipment safely; record instrument data such as milk vat temperatures and cow IDs.
- Operate a dairy recycling system.
- Perform calf feeding, including tubing colostrum.
- Assist with or perform irrigation works.
- Inspect livestock to evaluate feed effectiveness.
- Transport, handle, and store chemicals; prepare and apply chemicals safely.
- Operate farm and dairy-related vehicles, plant, and equipment.
- Identify and report equipment issues; perform maintenance on plant and machinery.
- Where qualified, perform maintenance on sheds, fixtures, fittings, fences, and install new equipment.
- Transport stock, feed, and equipment if licensed.
- Maintain accurate records for stock and inventory control.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Contribute to and implement OHS requirements.
- Operate computer equipment and software packages requiring setup and basic functions.
- Coordinate responses to occupational health, safety, and animal welfare emergencies.
- Participate in industry training sessions and workshops as required.
