Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of our college finances, including financial reporting, taxation, grant funding, insurances, payroll, and government reporting requirements.

This is a full-time role that requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial management principles and experience in a similar role.

The Finance Controller will work closely with the Business Manager to ensure the timely and accurate management of college finances. This includes day-to-day financial function, financial reporting, taxation, grant funding, insurances, payroll, and certain government reporting requirements.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A Certified Practising Accountant or Institute of Chartered Accountant qualification.
  • Demonstrated understanding of payroll.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor staff, creating a working environment that is effective, harmonious, and positive.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • In-depth understanding of GST, ideally as it relates to a not-for-profit organisation.
  • Ability to complete BAS and Fringe Benefits Tax returns.
  • Experience in a school environment will be highly desirable, although is not essential.
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance (or be willing to obtain).
  • Have or be prepared to obtain Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School.
  • Hold appropriate Australian Work rights.
