About the Position
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ecological consultant to lead and deliver ecological assessments, environmental approvals, and contribute to conservation planning. The successful candidate will provide expert advice on a range of projects in Victoria.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Australian ecosystems and demonstrated expertise in environmental legislation and policy framework. They will be able to manage multiple projects, deliver high-quality reports on time and within budget, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead delivery of ecological survey programs and impact assessment tailored to client needs.
- Prepare technical reports, including ecological impact assessment, vegetation mapping, and offsets advice and strategy.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex projects.
- Provide expert advice on Victorian and Commonwealth biodiversity legislation.
- Support junior staff in fieldwork, data analysis, and reporting.
- Liaise with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure project delivery aligns with client and regulator needs.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in botany, ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in ecological consulting or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in Australian ecosystems.
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation and policy framework.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality reports on time and within budget.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
