Senior Development Assessment Planner

The Senior Development Assessment Planner plays a crucial role in the Development and Building team at Georges River Council. This team is responsible for delivering high-quality development assessment and pre-lodgment services, as well as providing specialist advice on Building Code of Australia requirements and Building Certification.
As a key member of the team, you will be involved in the direction and control of the development assessment function, working closely with the Coordinator Development Assessment. You will have the opportunity to evaluate complex and sensitive developments, and provide expert advice to Council and the community.
Key Responsibilities- Attend and conduct cases before the Land and Environment Court, preparing and presenting evidence and relevant documents.
- Prepare reports and present applications to the Georges River Local Planning Panel and the Sydney South Planning Panel.
- Provide accurate information to Strategic Planning for inclusion in Section 10.7 Planning Certificates.
- Participate in internal reviews of development applications and provide professional advice.
- Facilitate community engagement and mediation on development applications.
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or equivalent.
- Current driver's license Class C (Car).
- Strong working knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Regulations, Environmental Planning Instruments, and Land and Environment Court Principles.
- Experience in the Land and Environment Court and its procedures.
- Extensive experience in assessing complex and contentious development applications within Local Government.
