Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Environmental Strategist to lead the delivery of environmental outcomes by providing expertise in environmental approvals under State and Commonwealth environmental legislation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing approvals strategies, applying critical and strategic thinking skills to assess proposed approvals pathways, working with multidisciplinary project teams to de-risk environmental approvals, and undertaking environmental impact assessments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing approvals strategies to secure project approvals under relevant State and Commonwealth legislation
  • Applying critical and strategic thinking skills to assess proposed approvals pathways
  • Working with multidisciplinary project teams to de-risk environmental approvals
  • Undertaking environmental impact assessments and preparing and submitting environmental approvals
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A degree level qualification in environmental science or related discipline
  • Substantial experience in environmental impact assessment and approvals
  • Considerable experience interacting with regulators, stakeholders, and interest groups
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge and skill identifying and obtaining environmental approvals to minimise business and compliance risks
  • Experience in delivering environmental approvals for marine projects (desirable)
