Job Title: Environmental Sustainability Specialist

Barto Gold is an Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer operating since 2009 in Western Australia. Our flagship operation covers a vast area of approximately 1,400km2 with significant exploration potential. The operation features a 1.8Mtpa processing plant, two active underground mines, two active open pits, and an exciting life-of-mine plan.

As an Environmental Sustainability Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting our site operations on environmental, sustainability, and compliance matters. This is a great opportunity to join a growing gold producer and be part of a dynamic work environment.

  • Provide advice and support to site operations regarding legislative and statutory requirements.
  • Assist in preparing and obtaining various environmental approvals.
  • Promote the proactive reporting of environmental hazards, assist with incident investigations, and follow up corrective actions with site management.
  • Participate in community events and liaise with community members and stakeholders where required.
  • Carry out workplace inspections and drive environmental compliance through awareness and training.
  • Conduct statutory monitoring and manage the monitoring database.
  • Support the planning and execution of rehabilitation.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Key qualifications and experience include:

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 (one) year experience in an environmental role within the mining industry onsite.
  • Knowledge of applicable environmental legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
  • Understanding of Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
  • A sound understanding of environmental risks and impacts associated with mining and mineral processing operations.
  • Self-motivation, organization, and ability to manage personal workloads to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
