We are seeking a highly skilled Business Development Manager to join our Energy Solutions team at Shell Energy. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for driving the achievement of sales objectives and associated financial targets.
Key Responsibilities- Account management of key clients, including the development of key account strategies to expand our service offering and ensure exceptional customer experience;
- Conducting monthly meetings with key clients to manage delivery of a current Environmental Certificate program and identify future opportunities;
- Re-contracting or extending existing Shell Energy Environmental Certificate customers and cross/up selling to expand existing clients into additional Shell Energy Environmental Certificate services;
- Develop and execute strategic account management initiatives to boost retention, extension and expansion of existing key customer accounts;
- Identification of target clients using a variety of methods, including research databases, CRM database, referral from colleagues and networks, etc.;
- Enter details of prospects into CRM database and undertake ongoing opportunity analysis and action plan management for each client;
- Actively pursue identified opportunities;
- Conduct site visits and customer meetings to determine client needs, ensuring the solution proposed to a prospective client meets their specific needs;
- Collaborate with Engineering team to develop project scope and accurate cost/benefit estimations using Excel or pricing tools and engagement with suppliers, contractors and clients;
- Identify and convert revenue from high-value clients;
- Handover, co-ordinate and oversee delivery with Shell Energy Engineering team to ensure full commercial completion of services;
- Complete customer handover to Engineering;
- Reporting and pipeline management within our internal customer relationship management systems;
- Work with internal stakeholders to cultivate key strategic clients and look to generate greater lifetime value proposition through additional Energy Solutions products and services (e.g. demand response, professional services, energy management software, solar PV, batteries), increased retention (assistance for Retail) and repeat purchases;
- Supporting the establishment and management of key channel partners in market to support future growth in target sectors and customers;
- Travelling (as required) to enable you to carry out your role.
- Demonstrated experience of successfully selling energy management or sustainability products to businesses;
- Ability to engage customers/suppliers and manage the sales process from beginning to end, including prospecting, sales, and deployment;
- Knowledge of the environmental certificate markets in Australia;
- Understanding or experience in other behind-the-meter energy products business adopt (e.g. solar, batteries, demand response);
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with representatives from all organisational levels;
- Excellent communications skills, both written and oral;
- Excellent time management and organisation skills;
- Ability to understand and/or learn technical concepts;
- Ability to work independently or within a team;
- Proficient in all Microsoft Packages;
- High levels of initiative and accountability;
- A current driver's licence is essential;
- A tertiary qualification in an engineering or science discipline will be highly regarded;
- Experience selling energy-related products to, or account managing, complex C&I customers at this level in a similar business environment;
- Experience in Environment Certificate creation (Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates, Environmental Saving Certificates, Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme, Australian Carbon Units) will be highly regarded;
- Formal sales training will be highly regarded.
