Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef Assistant to join our culinary team. This is a full-time opportunity to work at an iconic Melbourne luxury hotel and develop your career with a view of stepping into a Hotel Manager role next.

About You

  • You will have trade qualifications and a minimum of 1 year experience in a commercial kitchen environment, preferably within a restaurant, hotel environment or events kitchen.
  • Experience in menu design and creation is essential, as well as the ability to interpret clients' needs and act accordingly.
  • You will be a good team player, contributing to and assisting co-workers without being asked, while maintaining a positive work environment where learning and personal development is celebrated.

Responsibilities

  1. Support and collaborate with the team to produce high-quality menu items, ensuring they meet Sofitel Brand Standards guidelines.
  2. Assist in demonstrating flair to brainstorm and create new menu items for our guests.
  3. Actively promote and participate in teamwork and positive communication with the kitchen and other departments.
  4. Cultivate a positive work environment where learning and personal development is encouraged.
  5. Ensure food standards, preparation, presentation, and cooking techniques are established and monitored.
  6. Ensure highest level of hygiene is practised to meet Health & Safety regulations and HACCP food preparation guidelines.
