Job Description

As a dynamic leader, you will spearhead efforts to eliminate rheumatic heart disease (RHD) and acute rheumatic fever (ARF) in Australia. You will work closely with First Nations communities, government agencies, health professionals, and other stakeholders to drive advocacy, community-led health initiatives, and public engagement.

This pivotal role requires a strong understanding of cardiovascular health, cultural competence, and effective stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will be a passionate advocate for health equity and a committed driver of positive outcomes for priority populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Lead the Heart Foundation's strategy and operations in the Northern Territory.
    • Collaborate with national teams to align regional efforts with strategic goals.
  • Partnerships and Engagement
    • Build and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders across government, health, and community sectors.
    • Represent the Heart Foundation in media, public forums, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Advocacy and Policy Change
    • Drive impactful advocacy and contribute to national policy change on cardiovascular health and RHD.
  • Community-Led Initiatives
    • Provide cultural leadership and support community-led responses to heart health, especially within First Nations communities.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications and experience in public health, medicine, policy, advocacy, or community services.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence in working with First Nations peoples.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in developing and delivering advocacy strategies and policy submissions.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular health, and ideally, ARF and RHD.
  • A passion for health equity and a commitment to improving outcomes for priority populations.
