Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia beBeeLeadership Full time $100,000 - $125,000
Job Opportunity

The General Manager role will play a pivotal part in driving heart health initiatives across the Northern Territory. This is a dynamic position requiring a leader to spearhead national efforts addressing RHD – a preventable condition disproportionately affecting First Nations Australians.

This is a permanent full-time or part-time (0.8) position offering flexible working and opportunities for professional growth.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled leader to step into this vital position. The General Manager will provide strategic leadership for our initiatives across the Northern Territory, while also contributing to national efforts in eliminating ARF and RHD in Australia.

You'll work closely with First Nations communities, stakeholders, health professionals, government agencies, and other key partners to drive advocacy, community-led health initiatives, and public engagement. You will have the opportunity to work flexibly, both in our Darwin office and from home, with occasional travel required. We are open to considering a part-time (0.8) or full-time position.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the Heart Foundation's strategy and operations in the Northern Territory.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with stakeholders across government, health, and community sectors.
  • Drive impactful advocacy and contribute to national policy change on cardiovascular health and RHD.
  • Represent us in media, public forums, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Provide cultural leadership and support community-led responses to heart health, especially within First Nations communities.
  • Collaborate with national teams to align regional efforts with strategic goals.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications and experience in public health, medicine, policy, advocacy, or community services.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence in working with First Nations peoples.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in developing and delivering advocacy strategies and policy submissions.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular health, and ideally, ARF and RHD.
  • A passion for health equity and a commitment to improving outcomes for priority populations.
Benefits

We offer a range of benefits to support your well-being and career development, including:

  • Salary packaging to help you make the most of your earnings.
  • Flexible work-from-home options – up to 50% of your week.
  • A supportive and inclusive workplace culture where your contributions are valued.
  • Additional gifted leave during the Christmas shutdown period.
  • Wellbeing programs and initiatives to support your personal and professional growth.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others. If you're ready to take on this challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
