Environmental Policy Lead

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Policy Lead to join our team. As a key member of the Nature Directorate, you will be responsible for leading a team dedicated to improving environmental data and information to support evidence-based regulatory decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement environmental policy frameworks that align with departmental strategic goals.
  • Manage partnerships across government, academia, industry, and community stakeholders to advance environmental outcomes.
  • Provide expert advice on environmental policy and regulatory matters to inform decision-making.
  • Represent the department at interagency forums, conferences, and workshops to promote biodiversity policy development and reform.
  • Communicate and promote policy initiatives effectively through briefings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of Western Australian environmental legislation and policies.
  • Extensive experience in strategic environmental policy and delivering evidence-based technical advice.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven project management capability with a track record of delivering complex initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to develop and motivate high-performing teams.
