Employment Mentor Specialist Position

About the Role
The position of Specialist Employment Mentor focuses on delivering tailored support to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander customers, ensuring their transition into employment is successful and sustained.
This role requires a deep understanding of the challenges affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as well as effective communication skills to build trusting relationships.
Candidates who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, or have extensive experience working with this cohort, are preferred for this position.
This full-time role will be based at our Coburg site, with frequent travel to other locations in Inner Metro Melbourne (Prahran, Cheltenham, Fitzroy, and Box Hill).
One of the key benefits of this role is the opportunity to work a 9-day fortnight, with a dedicated day off every second week. In addition, you'll receive remuneration equivalent to a full-time employee, along with the option for salary packaging.

About You
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate:
- Experience working sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, respecting traditional cultures and values;
- Experience mentoring Indigenous customers in employment;
- A strong passion and drive for helping people find sustainable and meaningful employment;
- Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse range of clients, employers, and staff;
- High-level interpersonal skills to represent Workskil Australia to customers, funding bodies, employers, RTOs, Indigenous Communities, and other stakeholders;
- Solid knowledge of the local labour market;
- An understanding of case management frameworks;
- Sales and customer service expertise;
- Extensive knowledge of federally funded Employment Programs and funding models;
- Proven ability to work in an outcome-based, high-pressure environment, positively and with enthusiasm;
You will also be required to possess:
- Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and typing skills (minimum 30 words per minute);
- Certificate IV in Employment Services or Career Development (preferably) or willingness to study;
- A current driver's licence and own vehicle for travel across the region.
