About the Role

The Specialist Employment Mentor position is a challenging opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander customers. As a mentor, you will provide intensive support to ensure successful transition into employment and help build trusting relationships with clients.

This role requires an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively. It would be advantageous for the preferred candidate to identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or have extensive experience working with this cohort.

Key Responsibilities

  1. To work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, respecting traditional cultures and values.
  2. To provide mentoring to Indigenous customers in employment.
  3. To demonstrate a strong passion and drive for helping people find sustainable and meaningful employment.
  4. To work effectively with culturally diverse clients, employers, and staff.
  5. To possess high-level interpersonal skills, representing Workskil Australia Ltd to customers, funding bodies, employers, RTOs, Indigenous Communities, and other stakeholders.
  6. To have sound knowledge of the local labour market.
  7. To understand the case management framework.
  8. To possess sales and customer service experience.
  9. To have extensive working knowledge of federally funded employment programs and funding models.
  10. To be able to work in an outcome-based, high-pressure environment positively and with enthusiasm.

Requirements

  • Able to use the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and type at least 30 words per minute.
  • Certificate IV in Employment Services or Career Development (preferably) or willingness to study.
  • A current driver's licence and own vehicle, with the willingness to travel across the region.
