Project Officer

The Senior Project Officer role focuses on delivering projects that enhance policy and program outcomes, improve coordination of government services, and develop solutions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate projects addressing domestic and family violence to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders.
  • Provide strategic advice on domestic and family violence issues and contribute to the government's response to relevant reports.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to ensure effective referral pathways for domestic and family violence support.
  • Develop culturally appropriate local solutions to enhance service provision.
  • Work with local service providers to ensure culturally appropriate services that meet community needs.
  • Report on trends related to domestic and family violence and provide timely analysis.
  • Advise on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protocols, history, and issues within the region.
  • Contribute to planning and evaluation of policies and programs affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders.
Requirements:
  • Understanding of domestic and family violence and related reforms.
  • Ability to implement practical actions supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of challenges and opportunities in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Effective communication skills with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with knowledge of their cultures and histories.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and administrative skills.
