Job Title: Medical Practitioner Specialist

Job Overview:

A medical practitioner is required to provide clinical management and treatment of patients admitted to a residential unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical management and treatment for patients.
  • Practice within the scope granted by the relevant committee and approved by the council.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and participate in clinical supervision and continuing education.
  • Adhere to contemporary evidence-based best practice and contribute to continuous quality improvement and research activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Registered as a Medical Practitioner under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (NSW).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or current specialist qualifications as recognised by the Health Insurance Commission.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health services and to early intervention, prevention and health promotion.
  • High-standard clinical practice with experience in maternal, infant mental health, including assessment of pregnant women and families with young children.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuing self-education, teaching and clinical supervision of staff.
  • Ability to adapt clinical practice according to contemporary evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement; willingness to participate in or lead research activities would be beneficial.
  • Effective communication skills.
