About the Role

This Senior Project Manager position involves leading significant technical cross-functional projects, requiring strong stakeholder management and experience with complex problem-solving.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, scoping, and scheduling activities to deliver high-quality projects on time, within budget, and to desired scope. You will select and apply suitable methodologies, frameworks, and processes to ensure innovative and efficient project delivery.

This project focuses on delivering a specific piece of work - the Spam project - which comprises three main streams: discovering spam-related risks and developing a roadmap, analysing monitoring and blocking tools, and reviewing AI solutions to detect spam.

Responsibilities
    • Lead project planning, implementation, and delivery, ensuring timely completion, adherence to budget, and desired quality and scope.
    • Facilitate scope definition, goals, and deliverables with stakeholders.
    • Develop tailored project management plans and approaches (agile, iterative, and waterfall).
    • Collaborate with Project Leads to assemble project teams from internal and external resource pools as needed.
    • Report project progress, risks, and issues at regular intervals.
    • Contribute to team growth and improvement, providing coaching and development for junior members and demonstrating leadership behaviour.
    • Develop or contribute practices, templates, and artefacts to shared libraries to enhance project practice.
    • Participate in ongoing process and practice improvement initiatives to support better ways of working.
    • Model world-class delivery standards, respectfully challenging when necessary.
    • Embody project ownership, driving change delivery to a high standard.
    • Manage concurrent pieces of work, prioritising efforts according to organisational priorities in consultation with the GM Projects/Project Leads.
    • Maintain strong relationships and communication with all Xero teams.
    • Balanced perspective through building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Work across the spectrum of project delivery activity, owning outcomes.
    • Closely collaborate with stakeholders to transition project deliverables into Business As Usual (BAU).
    • Develop repeatable processes to increase efficiency in project delivery.
    • Efficient escalation of complex risks or issues.
Requirements
    • 6+ years of experience leading and delivering multiple projects.
    • Experience working with security-related projects.
    • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects and cross-functional teams to achieve strategic outcomes.
    • Demonstrated experience maintaining and improving project financial processes, including managing and tracking budgets.
    • Project management certification (PMI, PRINCE 2, AgilePM, or similar) is an advantage.
    • Relevant infrastructure, data, application development, business process, business change, or GTM subject matter expertise/demonstrated experience.
    • Agile/iterative and waterfall approaches.
    • Web/online/cloud/SaaS experience.
    • Understanding of business processes, structures, and organisations.
    • Demonstrated experience managing multiple stakeholders and delivery teams.
    • Demonstrated vendor management.
    • Strong communication and analytical skills.
    • Strong commercial acumen.
    • Experience working with senior leaders, demonstrated experience preparing/reporting to C-level.
