Rehabilitation Registrar Role Opportunity

A challenging position exists for a Rehabilitation Registrar to join the hospital in 2026.

The rehabilitation services have relocated to new facilities at the Palmerston Hospital, providing exposure to a purpose-built facility with various healthcare services.

This role will involve working in a 24-bed general rehabilitation ward dealing with adult rehabilitation cases, including stroke/neurological injuries, amputees, brain/spinal injuries, orthopaedic issues, and multiple traumas. There's also extensive exposure to Indigenous culture and opportunities to attend Outreach clinics.

Outpatient clinics cover prosthetics/orthotics, chronic pain, stroke, and brain injury, with the option to administer intrathecal pumps and botulinum toxin injections. Onsite hydrotherapy facilities and allied health services are also available.

The roles are supported by Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) and offer a structured teaching program with formal learning contracts. The positions are supervised by fully credentialed AFRM Fellows.

  • Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Passed RACP written and clinical exam or recognised overseas equivalent
  • PGY3+ and willing to step up to a Registrar role with strong background in medical terms or within 2 years of completing fellowship training or previous experience as a Medical Registrar (Senior REG)
  • Sound clinical knowledge in assessment and management of patients and commitment to provide high-quality service
  • Interpersonal communication skills, and able to interact positively in cross-cultural work environments
