Job Overview

A Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the installation and maintenance of critical mechanical infrastructure in underground operations, including air, water, pumping, and ventilation systems. They will also manage underground diamond drilling.

This is a dynamic role that offers a broad scope of responsibility, combining technical engineering, project and contract management, coordination, and execution. The ideal candidate will help prepare our team for the transition to Cemented Paste Fill (CPF) in FY26.

">Key Responsibilities:
  • Champion a culture of care and act as a visible safety leader for the team and stakeholders.
  • Analyse operational data and apply tools to drive departmental capability.
  • Lead mechanical improvement projects from planning through to execution and closeout.
  • Support leadership in managing risk and understanding risk appetite across mechanical systems.
  • Conduct routine budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline are required.
  • Experience in heavy industry, mining, or underground operations is advantageous.
  • A strong understanding of mechanical infrastructure such as compressed air systems, water reticulation, pumping stations, barricades, backfill reticulation, and ventilation systems is necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in PowerBI for data consolidation and analysis, is required.
  • A strong customer service mindset and ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business is essential.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment is ideal.
