Economic Development Project Officer

In this role, you will contribute to the planning and implementation of community and economic development projects across Glen Eira, aligning with the Economic Development Action Plan. You will focus on projects within our activity centres, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to create new opportunities for businesses to thrive.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing strategies to celebrate the history, local uniqueness, and stories of each place and its local businesses.
- Engaging with businesses, Traders Associations, property owners, and the broader community to remain up-to-date on matters relevant to Glen Eira.
- Supporting Neighbourhood Activity Centres with developing and marketing their brand.
- Measuring and reporting progress on indicators in Council's Economic Development Action Plan and economic development-related actions in the Council Plan and other strategic Council documents.
About You
You will be a self-motivated individual with excellent business knowledge and a strong interest in local economic development. Your role involves working with stakeholders to build lasting partnerships and deliver local projects. You will engage in research and evaluation of economic development issues and assist in strategic planning and project implementation.
The following is also required:
- Knowledge and experience of business management in the business/commercial sector.
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or substantial experience in project management, economic development, commerce, business, planning, social planning, or similar field.
- Substantial relevant experience in developing, delivering, and monitoring economic development projects and programs.
- Experience in developing high-level reports, business cases, and marketing material.
- High-level communication skills and experience in building relationships with stakeholders across multiple sectors.
