About the Role:
Sydney Metro West is a complex infrastructure project that requires the expertise of a skilled Project Manager. As a Senior Commercial Manager, you will play a critical role in managing and overseeing commercial aspects across the project. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of contract law, financial management, and risk assessment within the civil engineering sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Developing and managing project forecasts, monitoring expenditures, and implementing cost control measures to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Management of contractor disputes and working closely with the finance team to prepare month-end whole-of-project forecasts and financial reports.
  • Mentorship of the Commercial Team on industry best practices and encouraging staff to develop their current skillset.
  • Evaluation of variation claims prepared by the commercial team prior to issuing assessments for review and approval under the delegation of authority.
  • Managing compliance and preparing reports on commercial performance of the project.
  • Providing strategic guidance to project teams and fostering a collaborative and legally sound environment.
  • Leading on monitoring and steering outcomes for high-risk/value claims and disputes, ensuring positive strategies and resolutions.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will require:
  • A degree in Law, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Business-related degree.
  • Minimum 10 years' commercial/contract management experience in major large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of principles of contract management, including contract management and stakeholder engagement with practical experience.
  • Previous major project Joint Venture experience is desirable.
  • Estimating, quantity survey, procurement, and contracts management skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • The ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.

About the Project:
The Gamuda Australia Laing O'Rourke Consortium is delivering 9 kilometres of twin metro rail tunnels between Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park, as well as excavation of new station boxes at Westmead and Parramatta, earthworks, utilities, and connecting tunnels for a Maintenance and Stabling Facility at Clyde, a precast concrete segment factory at Eastern Creek, and a services facility, crossover structure, and excavation to support tunnelling operations at Rosehill.
