Senior Legal Counsel Opportunity

This is a rare chance to take on a key role in shaping the legal framework of a growing business. We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to lead legal functions spanning franchising, commercial contracts, governance and risk for our client's Australia and New Zealand markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Franchise Compliance: Oversee all franchise legal documentation including franchise agreements, disclosure documents, and compliance registers.
  • Commercial Contracting: Prepare, negotiate, and review a wide range of contracts such as supplier agreements, sponsorship deals, and property leases.
  • Governance & Risk: Advise on risk management, privacy matters, and legislative developments; participate in internal committees as needed.
  • Board Reporting: Prepare accurate and concise legal updates for board and leadership consideration.
  • External Counsel Engagement: Manage instructions and relationships with external advisors.
  • Leadership: Provide guidance to a capable Legal & Events Administrator.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years' post-admission experience, ideally in a franchising-heavy environment.
  • Proven experience with franchise law, including preparing disclosure documents and managing franchisee relationships.
  • Strong commercial contracting experience, with the ability to balance legal risk against business needs.
  • The confidence to work independently and interface with executives and cross-functional teams.
  • A collaborative and practical approach, and the ability to work at pace in a large, evolving business.
