School Support Worker Role Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient support worker to work within a supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to pupils with SEMH needs across the primary age range.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour strategies and emotional regulation plans.
  • Create a safe and nurturing classroom environment that promotes learning and emotional development.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals.
  • Track progress and support the development of each child's personal and academic goals.
  • Actively contribute to planning interventions and reviewing pupil progress.

Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification in education, psychology, counselling, or child development.
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs in a school, alternative provision, or youth work setting.
  • A strong understanding of the primary curriculum and how to adapt learning for children with SEMH challenges.
  • The ability to implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • A strong understanding of attachment theory, trauma-informed practices, and behaviour management strategies.
  • Resilience, patience, and a nurturing approach to supporting young learners.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and parents.
