Aerospace Engineer for Reusable Launch Vehicle

Overview
Blue Origin is seeking an experienced aerospace engineer to join our team as a New Shepard Systems Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of the reusable launch vehicle's flight control and actuated systems.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the entire design cycle, including system architecture, requirements derivation, conceptual and detailed design, system performance modeling, structural analysis, manufacturing and integration support, development testing, and qualification.
- Define component groups, including design, specification, procurement, processing, testing, and discrepancy resolution of specific components.
- Identify and implement design changes to improve system reliability and reduce operational cost.
- Participate in verification audits of existing components and subsystems.
- Participate in component and subsystem level testing, including planning, execution, data reduction, and analysis.
Requirements
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in aerospace development or similar industries.
- Demonstrated experience in aerospace or related industry in two or more of the following areas: servo controlled hydraulic actuation, electro-mechanical actuation, mechanisms to deploy, lock, position, or similar application for high-reliability systems, common aerospace structural materials and surface treatments, high-pressure fluid fittings, static seals, and dynamic actuator seals, hydraulic and fluid systems modeling and analysis, aerospace systems engineering principles and processes including requirements derivation, and verification planning and execution.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD programs such as NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, Pro/E, etc.
- Experience in analysis including hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Experience with GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four (4) years of experience in aerospace development or similar industries.
- M.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Proficiency with Creo, Windchill, and Ansys.
- Test instrumentation and data acquisition experience.
- Hands-on experience with machining, building, and maintaining pressurized or mechanical systems.
- Experience with launch vehicle, aircraft, or spacecraft manufacturing and integration.
