Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Systems Engineer to join our team in the design and development of the New Shepard reusable launch vehicle. The successful candidate will be responsible for flight control and actuated systems, participating in the entire design cycle, including system architecture, requirements derivation, conceptual and detailed design, system performance modeling, structural analysis, manufacturing and integration support, development testing, and qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the design and development of flight control and actuated systems for the New Shepard reusable launch vehicle.
- Contribute to the entire design cycle, including system architecture, requirements derivation, conceptual and detailed design, system performance modeling, structural analysis, manufacturing and integration support, development testing, and qualification.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of flight control and actuated systems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in aerospace systems engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Minimum of two years of experience in aerospace development or similar industries.
- Demonstrated experience in aerospace or related industry in two or more of the following areas: Servo controlled hydraulic actuation, Electro-mechanical actuation, Mechanisms to deploy, lock, position, or similar application for high-reliability systems, Common aerospace structural materials and surface treatments, Hydraulic and fluid systems modeling and analysis, Aerospace systems engineering principles and processes including requirements derivation, and verification planning and execution.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD programs such as NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, Pro/E, etc.
- Experience in analysis including hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Experience with GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four years of experience in aerospace development or similar industries.
- M.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Proficiency with Creo, Windchill, and Ansys.
- Test instrumentation and data acquisition experience.
- Hands-on experience with machining, building, and maintaining pressurized or mechanical systems.
- Experience with launch vehicle, aircraft, or spacecraft manufacturing and integration.
