Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Space Systems Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and testing of our reusable launch vehicle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop systems and subsystems for our reusable launch vehicle, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance.
  • Participate in the entire design cycle, from system architecture to detailed design, testing, and qualification.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement design changes to improve system reliability and reduce operational costs.
  • Contribute to verification audits of existing components and subsystems, and participate in component and subsystem level testing.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in aerospace development or a similar industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in two or more of the following areas: Servo controlled hydraulic actuation, Electro-mechanical actuation, Mechanisms to deploy, lock, position, or similar application for high-reliability systems, Common aerospace structural materials and surface treatments, High-pressure fluid fittings, static seals, and dynamic actuator seals, Hydraulic and fluid systems modeling and analysis, Aerospace systems engineering principles and processes including requirements derivation, and verification planning and execution.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD programs such as NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, Pro/E, etc.
  • Experience in analysis including hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Experience with GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

We also welcome applicants with:

  • An M.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in aerospace development or a similar industry.
  • Proficiency with Creo, Windchill, and Ansys.
  • Test instrumentation and data acquisition experience.
  • Hands-on experience with machining, building, and maintaining pressurized or mechanical systems.
  • Experience with launch vehicle, aircraft, or spacecraft manufacturing and integration.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $111,690-$156,366 for on-site WA applicants and $102,383-$143,335 for on-site CO applicants. We also provide benefits such as medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
