Product Development Manager Role

We've been serving communities for over a century, and have grown into a leading business with 120,000 employees and a portfolio of iconic brands. As Product Manager - Range & Space, your primary goal will be to lead strategic initiatives, delivering our strategy of placing the right products in the right stores, enhancing customer experiences, supporting sales, and improving store efficiency.

You will work closely with category teams to champion product selection through our review process, key to launching innovative products in stores as part of a large strategic initiative. This dynamic role requires interacting with all levels of the business, including building strong relationships with senior management and our digital teams.

You will also:

  • Develop and implement proof-of-concept projects aligned to our business strategy, driving product localisation, productivity improvements, and store-specific planogram outcomes.
  • Design and maintain efficient layouts that support our 800+ store network based on demographic and local needs.
  • Collaborate with Data Science and Digital teams to develop long-term solutions.
  • Identify capability gaps, create tailored training programs for range and space planners, and provide supporting tools and materials.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes.
  • Provide process governance, escalate issues in a timely manner, and ensure decisions align with business strategy.
  • Offer advice on process development, analytics, and specialist functions.
About You and Your Skills

You will have experience operating technical shelf and/or floor planning software at a high level, with an understanding of store and layout design.

You will also have:

  • Experience with JDA/Blue Yonder's 'Planogram Generator' is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a large retail, fast-paced, or FMCG environment.
  • Experience working with customer and market insights is beneficial.
  • Experience analyzing large datasets to drive business outcomes.
  • A strong understanding of product adjacency in a retail setting.
  • Excellent planning and organisational abilities, as well as strong people skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficient Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Autonomous and proactive approach.
  • A genuine passion for retail and desire to see your work come to life for customers in stores.
