Community Inclusion Officer

This role is about creating positive change in the lives of LGBTIQ+ people with disabilities.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist members of the LGBTIQ+ community with a disability to access the support they need to live fulfilling lives in their local communities.

As a Community Inclusion Officer, you will build and strengthen relationships with relevant community and mainstream organisations that serve the LGBTIQ+ community with a disability.

You will work closely with these organisations to develop strategies that promote culturally safe and inclusive practices.

The goal of this role is to enable LGBTIQ+ people with disabilities, their families and carers to contribute to community prosperity and participate in community life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance cultural safety and inclusivity in community and mainstream organisations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community and mainstream organisations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and development within the organisation.
Requirements:

Experience working in a similar role or in a field related to disability, LGBTIQ+ issues or community engagement.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

High level of self-motivation, initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to achieving program goals and objectives.

Commitment to promoting cultural safety and inclusivity, and to supporting the rights and needs of LGBTIQ+ people with disabilities.
