About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Communications Specialist to join our Strategic Communications & Advocacy team at Hume City Council.

This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, offering a competitive salary package and professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver an annual content plan to raise awareness and inform our community about Council services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events.
  • Research, develop, implement, and evaluate online and digital communication campaigns to promote the City, Council, and its services, facilities, events, and activities.
  • Support the implementation of a results-driven social media strategy to engage with our community and promote Council services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events.
  • Advise on social content to enhance engagement on posts and promote Council services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events.
  • Maintain Council's website content and assist in the coordination of its management.
  • Help innovate and evolve Council's websites, ensuring good governance, functionality, search, and targeted content.
  • Provide high-level communications advice to senior decision-makers on key issues, policy matters, and implementation priorities to support Council objectives.
  • Support the strategic review of Council's communications tools and recommend changes to ensure they are engaging, innovative, targeted, and cost-effective.
  • Help monitor and audit Council's digital communications to ensure consistency with Council's brand and corporate identity and align with its values.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, or marketing or a similar field.
  • A current driver's licence.
