About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Visual Effects Director to lead our 2D department as Head of 2D. This senior position demands strong inspirational leadership, effective communication skills, and a hands-on approach to manage daily operations and develop the best experience for MPC's 2D talent.

The role requires overseeing the day-to-day management of the department, ensuring that all team members produce work of exceptionally high standards, and play a critical role in creating high-profile effects for various creative projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Direct and manage the long-term strategic growth and development of the 2D Department.
  2. Provide leadership and guidance on any projects that the 2D department are involved with.
  3. Support producers and artists when planning and quoting new work.
  4. Work in conjunction with MPC's other sites to encourage knowledge and project sharing.
  5. Help coordinate and chair a monthly meeting involving all Lead Artists and Supervisors to discuss any project-based or technical issues.
  6. Be involved with a monthly global conference call with other Heads of 2D.
  7. Work closely with other HoD's to ensure 2D stays relevant with other departments, identifying potential efficiencies across disciplines.
  8. Regularly assess MPC's representation at Key conferences and Universities ensuring the brand is well-positioned.
  9. Recognize MPC's brand and position in the industry, referring to MPC's manifesto.
  10. Attend Senior Management meetings and give updates on the status of the department.
  11. Engage with recruitment and work closely with the Operations and the Talent team to attract the highest quality artists in the industry to fill any potential gaps in the department's structure.
Requirements

This role requires someone who:

  • Has a sharp aesthetic judgment and mastery of Flame and Nuke compositing software.
  • Has insight into emerging technology and can provide guidance to 2D and 3D teams in the creation of mattes and other elements.
  • Is self-managed, a team leader, and possesses strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Can work independently, client-facing, and effectively communicate with clients to ensure satisfaction.
  • Understands the power of training and mentoring from within and encourages a holistic approach to communication across all disciplines.
  • Has an innate understanding of the industry and can apply those skills to the ever-changing needs of clients, often under demanding deadlines.
Salary & Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £90,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including comprehensive health insurance, retirement savings plan, and generous paid time off.
